Terence English OBE
Former Director of Welfare to the Royal British Legion, Terry started his Military career at RMA Sandhurst then commissioned into 2nd East Anglian Regiment in 1963, which then became the 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment in 1964. He served in the UK, Germany, Cyprus, Malaya, Gibraltar and Hong Kong in a variety of regimental and staff appointments. After transferring to The Royal Army Pay Corps in 1975, he passed the Long Finance Course in 1978 and qualified as Chartered Secretary 1981, awarded fellowship in 1985. Thereafter, he served in Senior Financial Appointments in the UK and worldwide, including MoD Director of Joint Service Job Evaluation and lastly, as Commander Finance United Kingdom Land Forces. He retired in the Rank of Colonel in October 1993.
Terry was then appointed as Director of Welfare to the Royal British Legion in October 1993 and remained
in the post until October 2004. Responsible for delivering all aspects of welfare to members and
ex-members of the Armed Forces and their dependants. During this time and for many years after
has acted as a Trustee for up to four other Ex-Service Charities.
Terry was appointed OBE in June 2004 for services to the RBL and the ex-Service Community.
