St Oswalds church, Bollingdon
With many thanks to Sue Poynton, Secretary of the Kerridge War memorial:
“Kerridge War memorial commentates the soldiers from Kerridge who lost their lives.
It is owned by the village of Kerridge in Cheshire and is maintained by volunteers. We get no funding from anyone so we also fundraise to get money for maintenance etc. All volunteers have links to either the village or have relatives who died. Personally, my grandad and his brother were killed during the first world and their names appear on the memorial. The seated silhouette was bought by the war memorial committee in memory of every person from Kerridge who made the ultimate sacrifice for others.
We hold our annual parade and service in July so not to clash with a neighbouring town in November. We placed ‘him’ on a bench looking at the memorial for the service and managed to get some amazing shots.”
The silhouette is now sitting in St Oswalds church in Bollington, sharing the the vicars bench till 11/11/18 , when it will be back in Kerridge for the day.
