St. Andrew’s Church, Newcastle Under Lyme
St. Andrew’s Church will be hosting a silhouette installation in memory of their local men who died in the First World War.
The installation will be part of a large Armistice commemoration in St Andrew’s Church Porthill. It will include displays of war memorabilia from local residents and The Brampton museum; displays from local schools, a cascade of poppies, displays borrowed from the Lichfield Cathedral exhibition entitled “Consequences of War”, and more.
The two Open Days are on Saturday 6th October and Saturday 10th November, 10am-4pm. In addition, the church can be opened on request at other times by contacting the vicar on firstname.lastname@example.org.
On both Open Days, there will be a performance of a drama “Letters of War”, by a local drama group, which tells the story of an ordinary Stoke family experiencing life in the war. On October 6th, the performance is at 2pm, and on November 10th, it is at 1pm.
